Independence Day. 17 August, 2007 Tunas Bangsa Orphanage House
We constantly forget the reality and the history and think that Independence Day is just another holiday. Meanwhile, in Bali, groups of domestic tourists came from various parts of Indonesia to spend their time on holiday and to have fun. Perhaps they don’t remember that the day is supposed to be celebrated by showing our appreciation for the long-term struggle of the Indonesian people in the past. A few years ago, we could still find many kinds of activities in each community group to celebrate the day such as traditional competitions, family games and also lots of games for children and youths. But nowadays they are getting hard to find. That’s why, on 17 August, we went to Tunas Bangsa orphanage in Monang Maning, Denpasar, to celebrate and let the children feel the real joy of freedom like we used to do previously. |
