The blood transfusion unit of Sanglah General Hospital in Denpasar, Bali serves a total of 5 million Indonesians plus the nearly 2 million tourists that visit Bali each year. In 1997, it was decided by the seven RCs in Bali that the existing facilities were not adequate and that new facilities should be constructed and supplied with modern equipment.

Phase 1 - To construct a 600 square meter building. With the assistance of RC Hiroshima East, Japan, the building was completed on April 5, 1999.

Phase 2 - To purchase two ambulances to collect blood in areas outside of Denpasar. The RC of Traverse City, MI, USA plus a Matching Grant purchased the ambulances in April 1999.

Phase 3 - To purchase new and used equipment for collecting, screening, processing, and storing blood. This is an ongoing program.

Bali Blood Bank is 10 years !

Sunday, 5 April 2009

Dear Friends and Rotarians with good hearts,

For 10 years the Bali Blood Bank has been providing superb services to our Community.  It has helped many people in Bali, Java, Lombok and many other islands around Indonesia and of course Foreigners.  What has been very special about this community service is that they have never asked, "Where do you come from ?"  They have just helped when asked.

On 17 May, we will be arranging a blood donors' campaign in a large way in Denpasar. If anyone can donate his / her blood, we would greatly appreciate this.  But if you don't have the time, you can also HELP in two other ways - by donating cash (as little as Rp. 25,000 can help with the testing and administration costs) or by donating a food package to someone who is actually taking the time to donate his/her blood.

Should you like to make a cash donation, please transfer it to one of the following bank accounts:

IDR (Indonesian Rp. Account)

Bank
: BCA
Branch
: KCU Kuta

For those individuals living in the Netherlands, please use the following Bank:

Please make a note on the Bank Transfer slip that this donation is for the Bali Blood Bank.

For our records, please send a confirmation to: PP Winaya mpdnp2@sequislife.com or Marina Purwa  marinapurwa@kcbtours.com
We do hope that you will help us make this day a successful one so Indonesians and foreigners alike can stay ALIVE.

Thank you for your kind consideration.

Your faithfully,
Marina Purwa
